This Retrospective Exhibition surveys works created from 1994 to the present – from Caloundra to the Midwest. Over this time, I have nurtured my practice of making as a form of restoration.

Feline Good. Howabout Body Shots?, A touring Exhibition from Art on the Move, brings together two major works by Bruno Booth, offering insight into the multidisciplinary practice of a significant Western Australian artist.

REMOTLEYCLOSE is about the happiness and sorrow of migrating, leaving home and reinvention elsewhere. The artists contemplate both ‘home and away.’ Is ‘home’ simply made by adding together time + safety + familiarity as the geographer Yi Fu Tuan tells us? The question of how people turn a foreign space into a known place or a home is embedded into most of Furque and Eastaugh’s work. 

From letting loose in the loungeroom to enthralling audiences on stage, this exhibition celebrates dance and dancers. Capturing the beauty of movement, self expression and connection, the works on display in Dancer were collaboratively curated and choreographed by the National Portrait Gallery together with a group of local dancers.

The Mid West Art Prize is a prestigious art exhibition, now in its eighth year, held biennially at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery.

‘My Journey’ is a collaborative project involving Year 10 students from Clontarf Aboriginal College and pre-service teachers from Notre Dame University each year. The students share their journeys and therefore, are sharing the spiritual connection they have to their country, expressing and exploring their kinship structure from home, and the cultural practices that are celebrated with their families. Genesis is your yearly survey of the best and brightest Visual Art students in Geraldton. Featuring artworks from Geraldton Secondary Students, the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery is proud to celebrate the vibrancy of young emerging artists in our community.

Contemporary political cartoons are part of Australia’s rich tradition of free speech and free expression, values that are the cornerstones of our democracy. Political cartoons can illuminate issues and events for viewers in distinct, direct ways.

Attracting a broad range of contemporary WA artists, the Mid West Art Prize has encouraged, celebrated and acquired significant artworks for the Geraldton Art Collection since its founding exhibition in 2011. This survey brings these prized acquisitions together for the first time in anticipation of the 2023 Mid West Art Prize.

Drawn from the national collection, Single Channel brings together moving image artworks from 2000 to 2019 by some of Australia's most nationally and internationally significant artists.

Faces and Places Revisited presents a comprehensive picture of the art practice of Irwin Tasman Lewis (1939-2020), drawing on imagery of flora, fauna, families and a series of poignant ‘Face’ paintings expressing the life and country of this significant Yamaji artist.

Featuring over 50 artworks from his short but prolific artistic career, He is Myself is a retrospective of the nationally-acclaimed body of work Mr. Gardiner created from South Hedland’s Spinifex Hill Studio

Individuals is the fourth local exhibition held by the DADAA Print Group, having also taken part in community arts projects and exhibited collaborative works interstate. The group create their art work in the Coach Studio at the Geraldton Cultural Trust, with perfectly-suited facilities including a spacious studio and two large printmaking presses.

Stitched and Bound is a biennial exhibition showcasing the innovative range of current work being produced by Western Australian artists who challenge the usual concept of the ‘quilt’ medium. Presented by the West Australian Quilters Association (WAQA)

Peregrinations of a Citizen Botanist is an immersive and finely crafted installation by Susie Vickery which takes the form of a cabinet of curiosities, charting the journey of the 18th Century French botanist Jacques-Julien Houtou de Labillardière, who came to Western Australia in 1792 on the ship Recherche, captained by Bruni d’Entrecasteaux. As with our human neighbours, we inevitably develop relationships with the birds that share our home.

The Visitors is an artistic survey of the people, paths and stories woven through the sociological landscape of contemporary Central Australian culture. The art-making process engaged diverse sectors of the community in unique inimitable immersive art experiences. Each image is a distillation of poignant local imagery, harnessed to provide an artistic account of the impacts and influences on desert life, captured with all the gloss of a tourism advert.

Tattoos are a conversation starter. Many members and veterans of the Australian Defence Forces have tattoos, and while their reasons for getting tattooed are as varied as the people themselves, self-expression and belonging play a part.

OPENING NIGHT 8 JULY 2022 - The Alternative Archive Touring Exhibition presents a contemporary visual archive of Regional Western Australian arts practice, the first of its kind in twenty years.

The latest exhibition of work by Susan Ecker. explores the studios of artists in some thirty paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings.

ArtCollectiveWA. Western Australians have a complex relationship with the state’s environment – vast landscapes, harsh contrasts, stunning colour and unique flora. These four artists - Merrick Belyea, Sarah Elson, Brad Rimmer, Susan Roux - interact with and respond to their environs in their own distinctive ways, trying to make sense of our expansive and layered vistas.

OPENING NIGHT 8 JULY 2022 - Southern Forrest Arts is currently working on a collaborative presentation of a state-wide series of regionally based, interconnected, exhibitions and performances held in mid to late 2022, culminating in a survey of contemporary regional art practice at John Curtin Gallery (Perth) in September-November 2023. Open Borders’ is an exploration of the burden and blessing of demarcation. Inspired by Western Australia’s unique experience of containment during the Covid-19 pandemic, ‘Open Borders’ prompts state-wide reflection (across all nine of WA’s regions and metro Perth) upon the role of borders, and their impact upon our lives.
