What better way to start the new year, than learning some new life-long skills that will make a difference
The Geraldton Regional Art Gallery invite you to get involved in a Boomerang Bags Geraldton Community Awareness activity. Joined by a representative from the Midwest Climate Action Group, the Boomerang Bags team will be will on hand with fun activities, demonstrations and handy tips for easy ways you can help to make a difference and say no to single use plastics.
The day's activities will include: decorate your own reusable tote bag
how to fold a newspaper bin liner
make a string of “happy flags” or “gods eye” weavings from material scraps
how to make a no-sew T-shirt bag (BYO large unwanted T-shirt)
Join us at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery, Saturday 18 January 2020 between 10:30am-2pm. All are welcome, activities are best suited to children 8 and up. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Boomerang Bags is a global initiative that calls upon the community – schools, sewing groups, universities, community organisations, councils, businesses - to collect fabric and help us turn it into bags. Workshops and sewing bees have become a valuable platform to connect with each other, share stories, divert waste from landfill, learn new skills, raise awareness about important issues (not just plastic!) and have fun.
