ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
2022 is the beginning of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages, as declared by the United Nations.
Wilunyu is the recognised traditional language of the area central to Geraldton.
To celebrate, a Language Exhibition has been mounted in the Post Office Lane Lightbox Gallery and the Geraldton Regional Library with seven culturally approved Wilunyu words for use.
These words are;
Atha- Crayfish
Banaji- Duck
Bindana- Thunder
Budu- Rain
Girnpa- Wind
Irinyu- River
Wurathu- Swan
Exhibition Opening with Community sausage sizzle will be held 29 September.
