Workshops with the National Portrait Gallery

Published: Wednesday, 31 July 2019 at 5:20:05 PM

Sharpen your creative mind (and pencils!) in these workshops with our special guests from Canberra’s National Portrait Gallery, Sally Dawson (Learning Facilitator) and Annette Twyman (Learning Coordinator). On a daily basis Sally and Annette engage with students of all ages and skill levels, the very young from 6months and their families to groups and individuals with dementia. The pair are passionate about their work, as it allows them to meet amazing people and share thoughtful conversations about art.

We are pleased to present the following workshops in conjunction with the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2019:

Little Faces
Friday 9 August, 9:30am & 10:40am

A very gentle program for 6 month to 3 year olds with their adult (parent, grandparent or carer).  Join National Portrait Gallery Learning Facilitators Sally and Annette for playful activities in the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2019 exhibition. We will be looking at the portrait of Ella in Callala Bay, 2018 by Aletheia Casey.  With a farmyard theme we will be singing, dancing and exploring making paper chooks.

“What is going on in this picture?” Visual Thinking Strategy Discussion
Saturday 10 August, 10:30am

Join the National Portrait Gallery’s Annette Twyman in a fascinating discussion about the theories and concepts behind the portraits of the National Photographic Portrait Prize. Excellent for adults, artists and TAFE or senior secondary students in Art Theory.
