Published on Tuesday, 16 February 2021 at 11:32:03 AM

This exhibition seeks to open the meridian of human creativity and invites the audience to engage with curiosity and wonder through installation using print and digital media. The title links the theme of the exhibition conceived by Jo Darvall, inspired by the words of an internationally acclaimed Australian poet Christopher Barnett consisting of large-scale prints, artwork on paper and an installation by three contemporary artists Martin King, Jo Darvall and Bethwyn Porter. Kings installation Searching for Bird River relates to the fragility of life and entertains childhood memories animated winged birds circling above giving the audience an immersive experience.

These playful etchings are presented on a non-traditional lectern of books, accompanied by an original soundtrack. Large-scale monotypes of Darvall and Porter allow the viewer to enter another space that looks familiar and yet is of another time… seducing and engaging the audience to experience and share in the stories of the past and future as a metaphor for the present.

Jo Darvall, Bethwyn Porter and Martin King have developed their ideas through a process of thinking that combines a sophisticated knowledge of the mechanics of making with a compelling need to communicate with their audience - professor Ted Snell.
