The Geraldton Regional Art Gallery, with our partners, is proud to deliver one of the most prominent and valuable prizes in Western Australia. The exhibtion opened to a crowd of 500 on Friday the 16th of June by the City of Greater Geraldton Deputy Mayor, Neil Mcilwaine and the Acting Director of Exhibitions and Collections at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, James Davies. The fourth Mid West Art Prize showcases the diversity, quality and innovation of art currently being made in the state. There are no restrictions in terms of genre, medium or size, entries simply have to fit through the Gallery door!
Members of the community can view the exhibition until Saturday 29 July and are encouraged to vote for their favourite entry. The community’s favourite will secure the Ian Blayney MLA Member for Geraldton People’s Choice Award, valued at $1,500, which will be announced on the 4 August.
The Geraldton Regional Art Gallery would like to thank the sponsors of the 2017 Mid West Art Prize; the City of Greater Geraldton, Rio Tinto Midwest, RedFM, Bendigo Bank Geraldton and Ian Blayney MLA, and the judges who travelled to Geraldton to select the winners: Lee Kinsella, Dr Ric Spencer and David Doyle.
