This Friday Geraldton Regional Art Gallery (GRAG) will throw open its’ doors to celebrate the opening of two new and contrasting exhibitions.
Expect to see a lot of rugged survival gear, high performance materials and specialist technology in Preppers. This exhibition considers the anxieties, paranoia, absurdities and hopes of many doomsday preppers.
A group of 14 contemporary Aboriginal artists consider space, time and the Australian landscape in Void. These themes are explored through drawings, sculptures, paintings and video works.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said he looks forward to opening night.
“We can’t wait to welcome people back to GRAG this Friday as it reopens after closing due to COVID-19 restrictions,” he said.
“It’s great that the community can come together and celebrate the opening of two diverse exhibitions.
“Both shows have timely themes, so I encourage you to take your time exploring and considering the artworks in Preppers and Void.”

A panel talk will take place the following day and features Yarns R Us Facilitator Ron Bradfield Junior, Yamaji Art representatives as well as Preppers artist Dan McCabe. This will start at 2pm and conclude at 3.30pm on Saturday 22 August.
From Tuesday 25 August, GRAG will be open to the public 10am – 3pm, Tuesday to Friday.
Visitors will also soon be able to access information about the Midwest through the Visitor Experience desk, which is due for completion in late-September.
