GRAG launches digital exhibition

Geraldton Regional Art Gallery’s (GRAG) latest exhibition ‘How Did I Get Here?’ has taken on a different form, allowing viewers to see the installation from their device.

Conceived due to COVID-19 restrictions, the short video celebrates the exhibition, toured by ART ON THE MOVE and the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA), alongside artworks from the City of Greater Geraldton’s Art Collection.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn commended all involved in the project.

“I’m delighted with how GRAG has adapted this exhibition to suit the times and so that members of the community are still connected to the arts,” he said.

“The exhibition is all about connection and is a very fitting theme given we’re not able to catch up with friends and family like usual because of social distancing or self-isolation requirements.

“As long as you have a device connected to the internet you’ll be able to take in this great exhibition. It doesn’t matter where you are in the region or world – you’ll be able to watch it.”

Local curator Ingrid Horn tours the installation and discusses the connection between artworks from AGWA and the City’s Art Collection.

The exhibition is an ART ON THE MOVE and AGWA touring program developed as part of the Freighting Ideas project, and curated by AGWA’s Robert Cook.

This production has been made possible through the Regional Exhibition Touring Boost managed by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, supported by Royalties for Regions and delivered in partnership by ART ON THE MOVE and the Art Gallery of Western Australia. It is filmed by local production company Browning Media.
