Published on Thursday, 26 August 2021 at 11:57:23 AM

Entries for the Mid West Art Prize close soon and the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery (GRAG) is encouraging artists in Western Australia to submit their artworks before the closing date on Friday 10 September.

The Prize showcases the diversity, quality and innovation of artworks currently being created in the state, with $26,500 in prize money to be won.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn encouraged people to submit their art online for shortlisting.

“The Mid West Art Prize is back and we’re looking forward to the exhibition, which will launch later this year at our premier arts venue GRAG,” he said.

“In 2019, we had a great range from across the state, exhibited alongside home-grown talent that we hope to see again.

“A huge thank you to the sponsors of the Mid West Art Prize 2021 – Yamaji Art, Lara Dalton MLA, Bowman-Bright and Latitude Jewellers. Because of their sponsorship, we’re able to have a prize pool of $26,500 across the five categories.”

Entries close on Friday 10 September at 4pm and artworks can be submitted online by clicking here.

The Prize is open to artists residing throughout Western Australia and all artworks in the exhibition are required to be recent works, that haven’t previously been exhibited and that have been made since 23 April 2020, ensuring an exhibition of contemporary and dynamic WA art.

More information about the Mid West Art Prize opening night will be available in the coming weeks.
