Join West Australian artists Kevin Robertson, Angela Stewart and Olga Cironis for a floor talk following the opening of their respective solo exhibitions at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery. The artists will informally discuss the conception of their artworks as well as their wider arts practice.

// ABOUT KEVIN
Kevin Robertson’s paintings engage directly with the natural environment. In this latest series 'Wonderwall', his work zooms in and out from the micro world of meteorite landscapes to the vast spaces of the desert. Looking at geological perspectives and then to atmospherics in the cloud studies, billions of years of geological time is counterpoised with the transient movement of clouds.

Kevin Robertson was born in Norseman, Western Australia in 1964. He studied painting at the Western Australian Institute of Technology, graduating with a BA in 1984, and was awarded a Master of Arts from the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales in 1992. He is a PhD Graduand (Curtin University) 2018.

// ABOUT OLGA
Olga Cironis is an award winning multidisciplinary artist with a practice that spans over 20 years. Since graduating with a Master of Visual Arts from SCA University of Sydney (1996) Cironis has exhibited widely throughout Australia.

In this current series ‘You Made Me Do It’, Cironis seeks to disrupt the innocence of childhood while highlighting the tainted road to adulthood seeped in social and cultural markings. Intentionally confronting this work forces us to question the space between self and other and how we are in the world.

Utilizing children’s dolls, lace and natural materials such as feathers, bone, shells and rocks, Cironis envelops the Dolls in camouflage fabric sourced from military uniforms. Recognising that Camouflage was designed by artists for war and based on camouflage found in nature this series symbolizes both war and peace, a disturbing lament for one’s inevitable loss of innocence.
