Applications Open for Post Office Lane Lightbox Gallery

Published on Thursday, 29 August 2019 at 4:05:25 PM

Creatives in the Midwest have an opportunity to see their artwork up in lights as part of the Post Office Lane Lightbox Gallery in the Rocks Laneway development. Soon to be installed and opened to the public, the Lightbox Gallery will feature eight A2 sized lightbox cabinets as a brand new exhibition space.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the new display space would be a prime location for any artwork. “Being part of the new Rocks Laneway, this spot will provide maximum exposure,” he said. “We know how much our community love and embrace public art and we’re always looking at ways to incorporate this into our projects. Artists of all ages and experience levels, as well as community groups are invited to be a part of this project. We’re really looking forward to seeing the lightboxes lit up in Post Office Lane as part of Rocks Laneway!”

Successful pieces will receive a commission of $1000 to cover costs related to the development, marketing and presentation of the work. The City will also cover the cost of printing artwork on non-adhesive transparency film, ready for installation.

There will be four available exhibition times per year, with pieces exhibited for a minimum of eight weeks. Rocks Laneway will be revealed to the public on Friday 20 September and with the first exhibition in the Lightbox Gallery from Yamaji Art.
